The marriage of William & Elizabeth may have been conducted by Sir Thomas Rivers at Chafford Place, 1/2 mile NE of Ashurst on the Kent/Sussex border; the house was pulled down in 1743. Willett's Farm, the future home of the Pearless family (still standing in 2004), is 1/2 mile NW of Chafford Park; Withyham, where William's sons William and John settled and were buried, is 3 miles SW of Chafford. William may have married secondly soon after 1660, but certainly from 1668 Bridget was mothering his children at Withyham.

He became owner of Willett's Farm in 1736 and left it to his son William, his residual heir and sole executor and, apparently, his only child. In his Will dated 11.11.1765 (qv), proved PCC London 11.1.1766, he provided for his wife Mary during her life, an annuity for 5 years to his nephew Edward Pearless, son of his brother Edward, and legacies to his sisters Margaret Page and Elizabeth West and to "the poor people of Cowden".

Inherited Willett's Farm on the death of his father in 1765. In his Will dated 21.9.1783, proved at PCC, London, 26.7.1788 (qv), he left Willett's to his widow Mary and to his son William on her death; other properties in the area were left to William and his sister Jane, immediately or on the death of their mother. In 1775 he was a Churchwarden of St Mary's, Cowden. In the Cowden burial register he was described as "William Peerless Senr. from Bassets".

In 1783 he was working at Willett's Farm, Cowden, owned by his cousin William, son and heir of John Pearless; in 1779 he had "hired" his own son William to his cousin for two years, against a payment of of ¹2 for which he was "to find him in meat, drink, cloaths, washing and lodging".

At other times he was described as a tollgate keeper (Penshurst?) and, at his death, a yeoman.

In his Will of 1768 her father, John Moon, bequeathed forty pounds to his grandchildren Elizabeth, William & Mary Pearless, to be equally divided between them. MI gives date of death 20.9.1798, aged 65.

In 1841 Census he lived in Rotherfield village, with a servant Sarah Brown(60) & Martin Brown(60) a pauper. Will of 26.3.1834 proved London 16.10.1844 admon. to nephew Henry Peerless fellmonger, sole executor; beneficiaries nephew Henry & nieces Martha wife of Nathan Piper, Mary Morgan & Mary Ann Peerless. In 1807 John Moon, landlord of the George Inn, Rotherfield, died and his eldest son James (15) was admitted as his heir, with William Pearless chosen as his guardian, but in 1814 James, a butcher at Beckenham, sold the property.

Will of 7.12.1820 proved at London 11.5.1821, admon. to Daniel Dickenson of Pembury, farmer & James Richardson of Speldhurst, bricklayer. James Richardson, whose daughter Mary Anne married William Pearless of East Grinstead in 1837, also attended Countess of Huntingdon's Chapel, Mt.Ephraim, Tunbridge Wells; Henry had been a Trustee of the Will of James's father John. His Estate included property at Rotherfield; beneficiaries his 4 children.
